Events and group chat Gift Buddy
Bring friends and family together in one event: invite people, agree on gifts from the guest of honour's wishlist and talk in the group chat. Birthdays use surprise mode by default.
Event types
Birthday
One guest of honour. Surprise by default: they can't see the event or its chat and don't get an invitation.
Wedding
For the newlyweds: an event for the two stars of the day and their guests.
Custom event
Up to two people, or none: a housewarming, a graduation, any reason to get together.
How it works
Step 1
Start on the Events tab
Tap "+" and choose: Secret Santa, a custom event, or join with a code from an invitation.
Step 2
Pick a type, a name and an icon
Birthday has one guest of honour, wedding has the newlyweds, a custom event has up to two people or none. The icon appears on the event card and in the chat.
Step 3
Surprise or open
In surprise mode the guest of honour can't see the event or its chat and doesn't get an invitation. That's the default for birthdays. In open mode they're invited like everyone else. The mode can't be changed after creation.
Step 4
Invite people
From the people you follow, or with a public link or code. A closed event is invitation-only, so the link doesn't work. "Refresh link" makes the old link invalid.
Step 5
The event hub
The group, the guest of honour's gifts from their wishlist (you can claim one to avoid duplicates) and the group chat. The event date comes with a countdown.
Step 6
Group chat
All participants can write. You can delete your own message, and the organiser can delete any. You can report a message and mute chat notifications. Blocked users are hidden in the chat.
Step 7
Changes, leaving and finishing
The organiser edits the name, date and description, and can cancel the event (it stays in Past and the chat is cleared) or delete it permanently. A participant can leave; the organiser can remove a participant.
Step 8
Reminders and limits
Reminders come 7 days before, the day before and on the day. Two days after the date the event ends automatically and the chat is cleared. Up to 20 active events, 50 participants and 1,000 chat messages.
